Edwardian Ball

June 16, 7:00 pm

Viridian Event Center
8030 S 1825 W
West Jordan

As the Titanic sets sail, come celebrate Relativity, Oreo Cookies, and the new Whitman's Sampler with old fashioned frolicing and new fangled dancing!

Although Downton Abbey has long since come and gone and the Titanic's fateful voyage is etched in history, you can still experience the opulence of the Edwardian Era at the Ball June 16.

We will take you back a century to dance Lady Mary's favorite dance and other old time frolics. You can cast your vote for who most resembles Matthew Cawley and Rose DeWitt Bukater or maybe even have your name pulled from the top hat to win one of our wonderful door prizes while you nibble on tasty delights and experience a little of the Abbey for yourself.

A marvelous new musical instrument was introduced to America in 1909 at the Seattle World's Fair; it is called THE PIANO ACCORDION! You have the opportunity to listen to not one but two of these beautiful Italian instruments as you first enter the Edwardian Ball. Performing will be Jenny Robinson and Mary Thomason, of Accordions Alive, playing several romantic or classical tunes that the Edwardians enjoyed!

So, don your Edwardian finery to relvel in the elegance and grandeur of the early twentieth century.

We are pleased to add the The Deck of Bards to the evening's entertainment!Combining the old style of four chord harmony with a mixture of music from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Picutre this...  four fine silk vests, four cravats, for pairs of wingtip shoes and of course four bowler hats.

Their renditions of classic songs like Danny Boy or Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two) have never sounded better.

They will surprise you with twists on Disney favorites like Be Our Guest (Beauty and the Beast) and When Somebody Loved Me (Toy Story 2).

Even the Beatles aren't safe from being harmonized, just ask them to sing Something.

The Deck of Bards are just waiting to make your next Soiree the event no one forgets.

All the dances will be taught throughout the evening so no previous experience is needed.

Light refreshments will be served.

Edwardian or modern formal attire please. 14 years and up.
